So we were going to go for a truck and 5th wheel combo – one that had 2 rooms with lots of slides.

The main reason is that with 2 kids who often play on the floor, we felt we needed a bunk ROOM – one that had preferably two (2) slides so that there would be plenty of room on the floor to hang out and play.

But after lots of discussion, deals gone bad, and lots of looking, we finally decided to go for a used Class A RV.

We ended up buying a 2007 Four Winds Hurricane. It’s not as quality as the Winnebago Sightseer we were looking at, but we could get it quickly and the price was comparable, and it had a LOT of windows.

And we liked the dealer/seller – sort of a private party that had a dealer license and was on the up-and-up.

One thing we’ve really come to learn is that the Master bedroom has 3 windows (2 on the slide out and one at the rear of the coach) and the bunks have 4′ windows, vs 18″ like many other class A RVs.

The Pros/Likes for us:
More, and bigger windows – One thing we’ve really come to learn is that the Master bedroom has 3 windows (2 on the slide out and one at the rear of the coach) and the bunks have 4′ windows, vs 18″ like many other class A RVs.

The Curio cabinets add extra storage.

More floor space in Master bedroom due to having the 3rd slide-out.

The Cons/Dislikes:

Less kitchen counter space, the couch is a pull-out bed with cushions that are too soft and swallow you up. We don’t need a pullout. We’d prefer a jackknife sofa – one with a bit of storage underneath, too.

The carpet is a bit worn out and the linoleum color looks a bit dirty.

The shower is one of those square/triangular ones and it’s a bit small and also 10″ off the ground which makes it hard to get out.

There are a lot of little things that need addressing, that will cost money and need work.

One storage box was busted when the previous persons had a tire blowout.

All in all, the rig is good. It looks good on the outside, but since we’re new, it’s decent enough, though we do wish it was a bit better quality and condition, and had a better shower and kitchen counter :)
